Jinni Announces Release of First Set-Top-Box Offering Personalization of Real-Time Linear TV by Unique Viewers' Taste Profiles

Jinni

Jinni Presents the First Jinni-Powered Set-Top-Box Offering a User-Centric Discovery and Viewing Experience Across EPG and VOD

TEL AVIV, ISRAEL--(Marketwire - June 26, 2012) - Jinni, the semantic taste & mood based discovery engine for entertainment, has announced the launch of the first Jinni-powered set-top-box providing TV subscribers with a truly user-centric content discovery and viewing experience over linear TV and VOD. Introduced progressively by European IPTV operator (Belgacom), starting June 19th, this enables the subscribers to benefit from a complete cross-platform content consumption experience.

Belgacom partnered with Jinni in September 2010 and took part in the startup's second round of funding, in early 2011. The already available platforms include an online service, mobile app and Connected TV app, all powered by the Jinni engine. The Jinni cross-platform experience is part of Belgacom's hard-hitting strategy, aimed at maintaining competitive advantage by offering a superior service to its customers.

Yosi Glick, Jinni Co-Founder & CEO, adds, "We are very happy with the opportunity given to both sides and look forward to hearing about their subscribers' experiences with the new features, as they have been given the good fortune to be the first consumer market to benefit from user-centric discovery across linear TV and VOD."

The new features Belgacom TV subscribers can now enjoy include: after they opt-in (i) personal "Taste Channels" offering content that reflects the viewer's personal taste combinations, from which he can select content according to his changing moods; after they opt-in (ii) the "Live for Me" feature, which finally provides an easy answer to the basic question "what's airing right now that I would enjoy?" by offering the viewer a refreshing new look at his programming schedule, showing the upcoming movies, shows and series that fit his profile; (iii) advanced explore and discovery options -- rather than searching VOD catalogs or saved programming via genres or general category identifiers, Jinni's Entertainment Genome™ will enable viewers to search for available content in a semantic and intuitive manner, by searching using natural language metaphor. For example: a search query for "funny and cynical friendships in the city" will lead to results that would not have been found if looking under "Comedy" or "Drama."

About Jinni Media
Jinni is the first and only taste-and-mood based engine powering video discovery. Using content genetics and nuanced understanding of user tastes, the Jinni engine powers a uniquely intuitive, personalized experience that increases content consumption and reduces churn. The Jinni service is powered by the Entertainment Genome™, containing thousands of genes that are assigned to each title to describe mood, style, plot, setting and more; this is a rich alternative to the usual genre language. New titles are automatically indexed via analysis of user reviews and synopses, using a proprietary Natural Language Processing solution.

Jinni's content discovery solution has been voted "Best Product Idea" by CableLabs. Jinni is a Webby Awards honoree, a Red Herring 100 Europe winner, an OnHollywood 100 winner, a SXSW Web Awards nominee, a TechCrunch Europas nominee and was selected as the best movie recommendation engine by CNET and Lifehacker. Nutanix Laps the Competition at Interop Tokyo; Wins Best of Show Grand Prix Award

Nutanix

Fusion-io Powered, SAN-Free Nutanix Complete Cluster Dominates in Cloud Computing & Virtualization Category; Finalists Included Nicira, HP, NEC, Cisco, Riverbed, Hitachi, and NTT

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - June 26, 2012) - Nutanix (http://nutanix.com), the first company to offer a SAN-Free datacenter platform for VMware virtualized workloads was honored to receive -- in partnership with Nissho Electronics -- the prestigious Grand Prix Award for Best of Show at Interop Japan. Nissho Electronics, a Platinum Nutanix Reseller, was first to market with Nutanix Complete Cluster in Asia Pacific markets.

Consolidating hardware delivers massive power and rackspace savings

Nutanix's innovative solution collapses the conventional two-tiered datacenter design -- compute and storage -- down to one single scalable appliance, delivering the world's first flash-accelerated 2U datacenter, capable of hosting hundreds of virtual machines without the need for a SAN. A single 2U Nutanix enclosure replaces more than 20U worth of legacy equipment, freeing up valuable rack space, lowering energy costs, all while dramatically improving application performance via Fusion-io (NYSE: FIO) server-attached flash memory.

The massive reduction in footprint allows enterprises, public institutions, and military agencies to declutter overcrowded datacenters that are pushing the limits on rackspace, and power and cooling resources, especially in the wake of Japan's recent large scale natural and environmental disasters. Government enforced power rationing and surging interest in energy efficient technology have led businesses across Japan to seek compact, high density infrastructure solutions that focus on power and rackspace efficiency.

"Nutanix Complete Cluster is the most suitable product for virtualized infrastructure because of its effective use of server-side flash. It achieves high performance via an innovative scale-out architecture, which realizes linear performance growth at very large cluster sizes," said Hitoshi Ishii, Senior Editor of Cloud Watch, a prominent Japanese IT publication.

"Nissho Electronics strives to deliver best of breed solutions to our Japanese customers that are scrambling to find more efficient products to host their virtualized applications. Nutanix significantly shrinks the datacenter footprint by eliminating 80% or more of the infrastructure, while simultaneously reducing storage cost and performance bottlenecks," said Takashi Harada, Product Manager at Nissho. "It is the perfect solution fit for our cloud practice focused on virtual desktops and Infrastructure-as-a-Service."

"Japanese customers put product quality, performance, customer support, and documentation above everything else when considering new technology. Japan keeps Silicon Valley innovation honest. Our recent high-velocity customer wins, along with Nissho's synergy and our power and rackspace efficient design, helped make a very compelling case at Interop. Customers running Hadoop on Nutanix are pushing the envelope on high-density virtualization," said Sudheesh Nair, VP of Sales at Nutanix.

Nutanix Distributed File System (NDFS), the core of Nutanix's Complete Cluster tethers high performance solid state storage directly to enterprise applications while preserving the elegance and simplicity of shared storage. NDFS amplifies the power of Fusion-io in the realm of enterprise virtualization by combining Google-like high performance, localized storage, and scale-out distributed redundancy via high-speed 10GbE top-of-rack switches, like Arista Networks. The base cluster ships with four industry-standard x86 servers bundled with VMware's hypervisor in a 2U, 75-lb, SAN-Free server appliance.

About Nutanix
Nutanix is the first company to offer a radically simple compute and storage infrastructure for implementing enterprise-class virtualization without complex and expensive network storage (SAN or NAS). Founded in 2009 by a team that built scalable systems such as Google File System and enterprise-class systems such as Oracle Database/Exadata, Nutanix is based in San Jose, California, and is backed by Lightspeed Venture Partners, Khosla Ventures, and Blumberg Capital.

Cisco Unified Communications Release 9.0 Gives Users Access to Premium Collaboration Tools From Unlikely Places and More Devices

Cisco

Update to the Platform at the Core of Cisco's Collaboration Portfolio Enables Third-Party Endpoints to Join the Cisco UC Environment

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - June 26, 2012) - As end-user demands for premium mobility and collaboration solutions continue to escalate, and businesses seek cost-effective ways to deliver the technology needed to meet those expectations, Cisco (NASDAQ: CSCO) today announced a bevy of new services and capabilities for the Cisco® Unified Communications Manager platform. The services and capabilities are part of what's called Cisco Unified Communications (UC) Release 9.0 and directly address many of the key challenges IT managers are facing today as they seek to "collaboration-enable" their employees both in the office and on-the-go.

Cisco UC Release 9.0 is the foundation of a unified collaboration strategy and includes the following key advancements:

·         Support of third-party endpoints. A new Cisco Unified Communications Manager feature called Extend and Connect works with Cisco Jabber™ and is designed to bring any third-party phone -- including phones at hotels, airports, convention centers, or even far-flung places like offshore oil rigs or cruise ships sailing half way around the world -- into the Cisco UC environment.

*   How it works: With Extend and Connect, telecommuters and business travelers can simply input the phone number of their preferred voice device into a Jabber® client running on their Windows PC, and Cisco Unified Communications Manager will route all voice traffic directly to that phone number. This allows the worker to use any third-party phone but get the experience of using a full-featured enterprise phone, so they can enjoy all the communications services they have at the office while they're on the road, such as presence, IM and click-to-call. Extend and Connect can maintain excellent voice quality at all times without being dependent upon the quality of the broadband link.

*   Cisco believes employees at businesses globally should have access to Cisco's UC environment, even if those employees are not using Cisco endpoints. Extend and Connect gives businesses a cost-effective way to give employees access to the Cisco UC environment by allowing any vendor phone -- old or new, analog, digital or IP -- to be controlled by Cisco Jabber. As long as the phone is connected to a telephone line, the user can enjoy all the features and capabilities of Cisco Unified Communications Manager that they would if they were using a Cisco IP Phone. With Extend and Connect, businesses can stretch existing investments by continuing to use existing endpoints while easing migration off legacy PBX systems and providing Cisco UC environment capabilities.

·         Support of fixed mobile convergence gives users of any type of mobile phone access to more desk-phone-like features, anywhere -- without the need of a smartphone, a data plan, or a mobile client installed on the phone. Enterprise-grade telephony features such as unified inbox, message waiting, callback, conferencing and direct-extension dialing are now available via a new systems interface that ties Cisco Unified Communications Manager with the user's mobile service provider, providing transparency, intelligence and control beyond the realm of the user's office.

·         Video quality, security, and usability improvements. Video is on the rise in the enterprise -- which means IT departments need a way to address quality, security and usability. UC Release 9.0 delivers:

*   better bandwidth management via a built-in implementation of Call Admission Control (CAC). CAC automatically creates a logical view of the network so the system can dynamically update traffic management across clusters and locations to help ensure optimal call quality, even during peak usage periods.

*   support for additional video endpoints. Cisco Unified Communications Manager is Cisco's platform to manage all collaboration endpoints; with this release, the recently announced Cisco TelePresence® TX9000 joins other telepresence endpoints (including C-Series codecs and SX, MX, EX, VX, Profile, 3000, 1300, 1100 and 500 Series) that are also registered to and managed by Cisco Unified Communications Manager.

*   next-generation "dial by email." Also known as "Uniform Resource Identifier" (URI) dialing, this feature allows users to reach any endpoint in the system by dialing a contact's email address in lieu of a traditional phone number. Cisco UC Release 9.0 is designed to support both legacy as well as future URI-based systems and will further simplify the use of video technologies such as TelePresence.

·         Enhanced Customer Collaboration. Cisco UC Release 9.0 contains many features that help businesses implement and manage contact center solutions. Key elements include:

*   the introduction of Packaged Contact Center Enterprise, which provides an easy to install, pre-engineered, bounded, and packaged deployment model of Cisco's enterprise contact center software. Customers will be able to implement a contact-center solution more quickly and administer it more easily, helping to drive faster return on investment and lower total cost of ownership.

*   Precision Routing for Cisco Unified Contact Center Enterprise. Precision Routing enables contact centers to drive complex call-routing decisions that better match customer desires with agent attributes and competencies, without the complexities typically found in skills-based routing solutions.

·         Multiple enhancements to Cisco Unified Contact Center Express. With Cisco UC Release 9.0, Cisco adds historical reporting through Cisco Unified Intelligence to provide important metrics for managing the contact center. Cisco UC Release 9.0 also adds Web chat to Cisco Unified Contact Center Express, opening a new channel for customers to connect with a contact center. Plus, with this release, contact center supervisors using mobile devices can perform key tasks such as managing agent skills to impact what types of calls are routed to a particular agent.

·         Additional features that enhance management and usability. Cisco UC Release 9.0 also supports native call queuing, so in-bound callers and groups of callers can be automatically put on hold and properly routed into a queue and given custom greetings and announcements. One Button to Record is also a new feature, allowing users to start or stop call recording directly from an endpoint. Customers can configure One Button to Record to comply with local call-recording regulations (e.g., to notify all parties that call recording is in progress).

·         Licensing improvements. In Cisco UC Release 9.0, Cisco introduces user-centric licensing throughout its entire collaboration portfolio. Now, businesses can purchase licenses based on four distinct types of workers: deskless (roaming) workers, desk-bound workers, occasionally mobile workers and road warriors. Additionally, Cisco is announcing Cisco Unified Workspace Licensing Premium Edition to address the growing mobile workforce by adding mobility solutions (like Cisco Jabber Mobile) to the collaboration mix. This builds on the Cisco Unified Workspace Licensing program launched four years ago and helps businesses purchase Cisco Unified Communications software licenses simply, flexibly and economically. The solutions have become widely adopted and reached nearly 10 million users worldwide in May 2012.

Availability

Global availability of Cisco UC Release 9.0 is targeted for Q3 CY 2012. Extend and Connect, one of the many key advancements, requires both UC Release 9.0 as well as Cisco Jabber 9.1. Cisco Jabber 9.1 is scheduled to be available in Q4 CY 2012.

Supporting Quotes

Nick Ciesinski, network architect, University of Wisconsin
"We've relied on Cisco Unified Communications for several years, and this latest version brings several updates that answer pressing business needs: voice traffic has increased exponentially on our network -- especially during peak times when applications are due for enrollment and financial aid. Native queuing gives us a way to automate the handling of those spikes in call activity. Additionally, video is becoming increasingly important on our campuses, and URI dialing will ease the process of placing such calls. Plus the centralized license management will save time and effort."

Thomas Wyatt, vice president and general manager, Cisco
"Enterprise IT managers want to address user demands for access to collaborative technologies on a variety of devices. At the same time, resellers are looking to enable IT managers to maximize the value of existing investments while they transition to next-generation collaboration technologies. Cisco UC Release 9.0 does all of this."

Versatile Teledyne DALSA Genie TS Cameras Now Available in Color

Teledyne DALSA

Color imaging enables vision applications in industries such as traffic and pharmaceutical

WATERLOO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 27, 2012) - Teledyne DALSA, a Teledyne Technologies company and a global leader in machine vision technology, has expanded its Genie™ TS camera series with the addition of three new color models. The Genie TS uses Teledyne DALSA''s advanced CMOS imaging sensor technology to deliver the widest, most powerful feature set ever in a GigE Vision camera.

The Genie TS color cameras include 5M, 8M and 12M models and reach speeds up to 29 fps. The perfect blend of form and function, the Genie TS is engineered to meet the ever increasing speed and image clarity requirements of machine vision. All features are easily accessible with Teledyne DALSA''s advanced software tools or GigE Vision compliant third party software.

Benefits of Color Machine Vision

As costs decrease and processing power ceases to be an issue, incorporating color into machine vision systems can yield greater quality as color becomes another decision factor in the inspection process. Color provides important information beyond grayscale imaging and adds a new dimension for analyzing data. Industries such as food processing, automotive, print, pharmaceutical, part presence and/or detection, PCB assembly, Intelligent Traffic/Transportation Systems (ITS) applications, and many quality and grading applications can benefit from color machine vision inspection.

"With the addition of color imaging to our Genie TS cameras, new opportunities emerge for applications requiring more clarity and further distinction," stated Manny Romero, Genie Product Manager at Teledyne DALSA. "We anticipate that by updating their systems with our new color Genie TS cameras, OEMs will benefit from accelerated application development, simplified deployment, and optimized system management and maintenance."

GigE Vision®

Like all Genie cameras, the Genie TS Series is GigE Vision-compliant, based on the AIA (Automated Imaging Association) GigE Vision Standard. This new series of Genie cameras takes full advantage of Gigabit Ethernet technology, transmitting data over standard CAT-5e and CAT-6 cables to distances of up to 100m allowing for a greater distance between the camera and inspection system. Teledyne DALSA continues to lead the deployment of the GigE Vision standard in terms of adopting the technology into its product development efforts.

Software Advantage

The Genie TS cameras are supported by Teledyne DALSA''s Sapera™ Essential software and its Genie Framework package for fast and simple camera set-up - from initial set-up to grabbing images in minutes. Moreover, the Genie Framework employs Teledyne DALSA''s advanced Trigger-to-Image Reliability engineering, significantly accelerating application development and deployment time by providing developers with a 360º view of the entire acquisition process.
